When Your Kid Is Disrespectful

If your kid happens to speak to you or your spouse disrespectfully, this is a time to remain calm and ask maybe this question? Why did you talk to me or your mother this way? And wait for them to answer.
Depending on your answer, this is an opportunity to teach them how to speak to a parent. This is not the time to explode in anger and escalate the situation.
Small children are sometimes just repeating something from a cartoon or TV show. They mostly just need instruction on how to speak to someone respectfully.
