Clinical Psychotherapist

The Owen Clinic treats clinical psychopathology. We see and treat a wide range of everything, from the more common forms like depression and anxiety to the more complex and acute disorders. As Clinical Psychotherapists, we pride ourselves on Clinical training and awareness. Our clinicians are recognized by the state board of health and by most insurance companies and treat clinical issues addressed in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM). Our Clinicians use a wide range of therapy modalities for the vast range of topics that you may see. We are prepared to treat symptoms and diagnose clinical issues.
Depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, a range of personality disorders, trauma, and bipolar disorders are some of the issues our clinical psychotherapists regularly work with. However, these are not all of the issues we are trained to see. We have therapists who have spent years working in hospital settings treating acute psychological issues. We have therapists who have worked with lawyers and in legal arrangements dealing with custody, co-parenting, reunification, and other court-related things. We have therapists who have worked with adoption and other child-related attachment issues.
We come from all kinds of backgrounds and training. Still, the primary takeaway is that when we reference clinical psychotherapists, we cite well-trained and experienced clinicians ready to deal with the medical issues related to counseling and therapy. We also have a tremendous list of resources for a wide range of challenges or difficulties you may encounter. We tell people, ” We would love to work with you, but we can also give you names if we are not the resource you want. We have lots of friends who are counselors, doctors, psychologists, and providers.

Christian Counselors

We understand that not everyone wants to include Christian Counseling perspectives. That’s okay, and it will be respected. That is something that a lot of clients are looking for when seeking counseling. When that is appropriate, we approach that counseling by applying the truth from the Bible and strive to glorify God through the counseling we provide.

There are no counselors here who are not Christians. If you want a strictly cognitive behavioral approach, we are equipped to do that. If you are comfortable with Biblical perspective and worldview being a part of your counseling, we are prepared to do that.

A lot of cases do not call for a clinician, and in that case, we look to provide the highest quality counselors and more affordable options. When we reference Christian Counselors, we are at the very least referencing a minimum of 45 hours in master level graduate level training, training in counseling for anxiety and depression, smooth transition into adulthood, career counseling, and dealing with life issues such as relationship distress, parenting, grief, and adjustment. All of the counselors who work at the Owen Clinic are trained in a minimum of one Cognitive Behavioral Approach. Several of them have training in multiple disciplines, including Cognitive Behavioral, Rational Emotive Behavioral, and Dialectical therapy modalities.

All of the Christian counselors here have additional training and certifications. Some have training in pastoral care and counseling, consulting, or life coaching. Some are trained in human development, some are certified teachers. Some are licensed, ordained ministers.
The Christian Counselors here are insured and follow the AACC code of ethics. Christian counselors work in conjunction with clinical psychotherapists at the Owen Clinic, but in cases where clinical issues come up, referrals within the clinic are available. Christian Counselors are not licensed through the state board of health. LPC’s LCSW’s, LMFT’s, PA-C’s, Nurse Practitioners and Medical Doctors are. At the Owen Clinic We have both Christian Counselors and Clinical Psychotherapist.

Court related therapy and reunification therapy

Reunification Therapy is a specific therapeutic intervention to facilitate the reunification of estranged or disconnected family members, predominantly parents, and children, following a period of separation, conflict, or estrangement. It is a structured and goal-oriented process led by qualified, licensed mental health professionals, typically licensed therapists or counselors with expertise in family dynamics, child psychology, and conflict resolution.

The primary objective of Reunification Therapy is to promote the re-establishment or enhancement of the parent-child relationship, prioritizing the well-being and best interests of the children involved. This approach addresses underlying issues contributing to estrangement or alienation, including communication breakdowns, unresolved conflicts, misunderstandings, or psychological barriers.

Reunification Therapy involves a series of therapeutic sessions, encompassing both individual and joint sessions with the estranged family members. The therapist collaborates with each family member to identify and address their concerns, emotions, and perspectives while fostering constructive communication and conflict-resolution strategies. Various therapeutic techniques may be employed, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, psychoeducation, and role-playing exercises tailored to the family’s specific needs.

Throughout the Reunification Therapy process, the therapist maintains a neutral and impartial stance, ensuring fairness and respect for the perspectives of all involved parties. Collaboration with other professionals, including court-appointed Guardians Ad Litem (GAL), attorneys, social workers, and other stakeholders, is integral to aligning with legal and ethical standards and striving to be a helpful part of the judicial process.

It is essential to emphasize that Reunification Therapy’s primary focus and goal are the children’s well-being and best interests. While reconciliation and resolution of conflicts within the family are sought, the paramount aim is to provide a supportive and structured environment for families to navigate their differences, rebuild trust, and ultimately foster healthier relationships.
The specific goals, duration, and outcomes of Reunification Therapy may vary based on each family’s unique circumstances and dynamics. Reunification Therapy may be court-ordered in cases involving legal custody disputes or as a condition for reunification in child welfare proceedings, underscoring its role as an integral component of the judicial process with a dedication to the children’s wellbeing.
