Prioritize Your Kids
In this weeks video counselors Dr Kevon Owen and Jack Smith are talking about “Prioritize Your Kids”.
Do you prioritize you kids? Are you involved in their life? Are you gone to work day and night trying to make ends meet? Is you career too demanding?
When you are home do you spend time with your kids? Are you actually present with them and interacting with them? Or are you so tired and stressed out you just eat and fall asleep? Your wife can’t do it all you know and she might be stressed out from taking care of them all day. That is if she is fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom. If she has a career too then it may be double trouble!
I suspect it may be time to take stock of where you are in your children’s life and start being there for them. You can start with just a little time here and there and you can find ways to make more time if you really want to.
If they seek your attention better to get it through actually being together with them than them acting out and getting into trouble. They can become resentful and go in a wrong direction. Then you have multiple issues. This is not an easy thing to get through but are your kids and their future worth it to you?
To seek help from a licensed professional counselor will be very helpful. Sometimes we just need that other person to help us see what we need to see and know.
