Boasting realized or not does not bring us closer to our spouse or children or loved ones. It can literally repel friends and other people we may know.
Placing yourself above others by calling out how great you think are or how financially successful you are can be a sign of narcissism and possibly far worse problems. Your lack of being humble and uplifting others rather than pointing out how good we are at something or just being boastful in general will push people away.
