IEP Or 504
In this video counselors Destini Ramsey and Susan Gearhart are talking about “IEP Or 504”. If your child is a student and has some difficulties at school there are ways to be of assistance to them even though you aren’t there. Spend as much time with your child at home as possible.
IEP’s or Individualized Education Programs is an evaluation for special education. The school will decide whether the child qualifies for services and supports.
A 504 plan is a blueprint for how the school will support a student with a disability and remove barriers to learning. The goal is to give the student equal access at school.
The video does a better job of explaining IEP’s and 504’s. As a parent it would be a good thing to at least be familiar with these programs.
Sometimes these things can be challenging at times. A counselor that you can speak with could make a big difference in the outcome of your child’s education and childhood in general.
