Does your adult child treat you badly? Do they ignore you or when you do happen to see them is it strained or negative? If so once they were the child and you were the adult. What you showed them or how you treated them might be coming home to roost.
How do you correct this? First give up your pride and ask them where you went wrong. They may or may not tell you. Asking for forgiveness can also be a step especially if you realize where you really messed up in their childhood.
As adults it takes both of you to continue not to forgive each other and hopefully both of you can forget your pride and forgive each other and hopefully get back to being on the same page again.
A childhood of bad treatment or just being ignored might take time for your child to get past. You may have to be very patient with them and give them some time to work through it. Counseling could also beneficial for this and for both of you.
