New Habits For A New Year
In this video counselors Anna Stapleton and Sarah Billings are talking about “New Habits For A New Year”.
It’s a new year and you have some things you would like to change and new habits to introduce into your routine. These are a few ideas on how to do that.
You can do all of the obvious things like making a list, putting these things in you calendar but these are a couple of ideas you might want to try.
Take one thing you are wanting to put in your day like and idea that was stated by one of our counselors. Take that one thing and put it in bite size increments. Like reading a set number of pages a day or walking a certain distance a day.
You can also check into procedural memory. This can help map your brain to put a certain task you want to accomplish in steps to complete. Say you want to run 2 miles a day so you imagine and map out in your mind the steps you must take to accomplish this.
Get your clothes on to run, put in your air buds and Fitbit. The map out in your mind the route to take to run the 2 miles. This can be of great help. If you need more ideas on how to accomplish your new habits a counselor could help with that.
If you or someone you know are having problems with this and could use some guidance with these issues days you can give Dr Kevon Owen a call at 405-740-1249 or 405-655-5180. For further information you can also visit our website at https://www.owenclinic.net.
